Honestly, I would not go in there without a collared shirt. I'm pretty sure jeans and t-shirts are not what they are looking to see on their patrons, this is a more upscale place.
I agree that your question is a bit unclear. But, when you do write a review, I think either someone at Google or a software program reads it to make sure there is no foul language or any other forbidden or morally offensive language written.
Business casual would be appropriate. It's a nice atmosphere.
Had a wonderful dinner there on Thanksgiving. Excellent service and complete menu. Add on seemed to be pricey, but were decent size.

Yes,
Yesterday was my first time and I had a great experience, beautiful restaurant with nice service and good vibe. All dishes was delicious, my Steak Diane was amazing!
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, beautiful old inn. Other than it's expensive, it's a very nice restaurant. I don't know why we didn't clone here sooner.
The food, drinks and service are phenomenal. We have been there a handful of times and tried everything from soup, apps, seafood to steaks and everything, everytime was delicious. I could cut my steak with a butter knife. The crab cake was one of the best we have ever had. We absolutely love love love this place
Great place for a special occasion lunch, we had our Holiday lunch here. Forty people were served delicious food, and it all came out hot. Very nice menu choices, attentive service. Desserts are tasty, too.
The Monday night Seniors are great Daily special. Great.
Excellent valentines dinner!
Good food and service.
Christmas eve dinner with the family was very festive at the Ship! A lot of families everywhere inside celebrating this special evening. Great food , great service and great ambience, a win win dinner...book it next Christmas eve, you'll be glad!! Merry Christmas!!!
3 Apr 2019***My wife had a crab and artichoke pizza off the happy hour menu. It presented well and tasted as well as it looked. Portions size was proper for a flat bread.I had a turkey and brie on toasted sourdough which came with sliced strawberries on a light salad. The apricot jam with cheese and turkey was well balanced and an enjoyable sandwich. The salad was a nice light accompaniment. The portion size was lager than necessary. The place was empty, though clean and decorated nicely there lacked atmosphere. The wine was high for the area.Though nice, the lack of atmosphere and pricy wine will keep us from retuning.
Good food, attentive service and pleasant atmosphere.
My boyfriend and I went on Valentine’s Day. He got the lobster bisque which wasn’t a bisque but a broth, smelled like it had gone, and the lobster was rubbery. They came around with a platter of butter but only gave out 1 roll at a time. I got the steak Diane and asked for it medium well. It came out so burnt it was crunchy. It had no flavor except for char. So I paid 33 dollars for burnt steak that was supposed to be more expensive because it is “more flavorful. My boyfriends crab cakes tasted frozen. The portions were small and flavorless. Save your money and go somewhere like bonefish grille or hell even Olive Garden for better food. IT WAS AWFUL!!!
Went for my birthday dinner, it was amazing ! Monday nights not too busy, we had the room to ourselves. Our waitress Katheryn was awesome, friendly, and helpful.
Will NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN - the food was expensive and mediocre. Came here for Mother's Day and my Mother's Day was ruined and on top of it all the manager Michael Persons was nasty and disrespectful to one of his waitresses on the floor in front of customers when something on a wall fell and broke. It wasn't even her fault. The entrees seemed as if there was penny pincher telling them how to plate because there was no hollandaise sauce or crab on the Maryland style crab cake. The waitresses were over burdened and it took an hour to get 4 eggs Benedict. I felt bad for them. The manager tried to blow me off when I addressed him and I made him stop and listen to me.
My husband and I dined on the patio at the Historic Ship Inn for date night. Patio was beautifully landscaped and the service was perfect. The crab cakes are THE BEST I have ever had!! My husband had the Hungarian Beef Tips and it was so tender. We finished our meal with Cherry topped crepes. Everything was perfect and it's just a beautiful place. Thank you for an excellent date night! We will be back soon!
It seems that this is a restaurant with dual personalities. We went on a Tuesday evening and enjoyed a quiet, romantic dinner in a Colonial style dining room. The food was higher quality than your standard chain restaurant, and the service is noticeably more formal. The back half - and it has its own separate entrance- is styled with a more modern, pub vibe with outdoor seating. Not sure if the place would have had the same ambiance if the back part was busier . Not sure if I want to find out.
After all the poor reviews I was concerned but 6 of us had a great dinner this evening. From the drinks at the bar to the shrimp cocktail and entrees and dessert. Everything was delicious. The Salmon was great. Crab cakes have real lump crabmeat, short ribs were very tender, steak Diane was excellent, Sea Bass was good. One guest had the pork/veal and thought it was a little tough. But everything was delightful and service was great!
I had been to the Ship Inn before and always liked it, however, my boyfriend and I went there for Valentine's Day this year and we will never go back. The service was terrible, our server was very unprofessional and seemed to have no idea what she was doing. We had to ask for bread 3 times before we actually got it. The couple seated next to us also seemed to be having issues with her. The food was also pretty bad. We ordered the mussels as an appetizer, it took a half hour for them to be brought out and they were undercooked and cold by the time we got them. We waited an hour for our dinners. My boyfriend ordered the duck, which was overcooked and dry and tasted like a bad thanksgiving turkey. Pretty sad because we always enjoyed the Ship Inn but after this experience we won't be going back there again.
Amazing food. Great service.
Always reliable, but nothing really different.
Alot of cross contamination in the kitchen. The shift drinks and does drugs.they leave glass juice container sitting on top so it can fall and break into the food. The chefs smoke cigarettes and never washes his hands or wear gloves and touches food, all the cooks smoke and don't wash their hands. Manager is very unprofessional. The food is not fresh. I recommend not eating there.
Went here with my family for Thanksgiving (we weren’t able to cook ourselves). This was the worst food and service I have encountered in a very long time. Stay away.
It's a very old colonial building... very pretty inside. It was expanded several years ago with a more modern decor in the addition. The menu is uncomplicated with a nice offering. The quality is very good. It's a nice place for a nice dinner (lunch too)
First I’ll say our server was very kind and great at her job! However the food was horrible... our calamari was rubbery and the breading fell off as soon as you touched it as if it was heated in a microwave...but we were still hopeful about our meals, but the sea bass was soo bland and my crab cakes were chewy and the sour cream for my potato tasted like it was bad... and it was an expensive meal for it all to be that bad! Needless to say we WILL NOT be going back!
Nice bar. Good bartender with a nice selection of single malts. I did not eat here, but I plan to eat here in the spring.
My husband and I dine often at the Ship Inn. The service is always perfect. We adore the ambiance of this place! It's very historic. The food is always amazing too! We come here for date night, special occasions, and we've also had our business luncheon here. It's just a beautiful place. It's a neighborhood gem and should be cherished as such. Get to know the history of this building while you are there. Steak Diane is always a favorite of ours as is the Veal Zurich. Make sure you get dessert too! Their homemade desserts are one of a kind!
Had a table of 6, and the manager would not honor a coupon for my mother's 79th birthday. (Only one meal 1/2 price)We left it at home but offered to bring it back and she has celebrated every birthday there for 20 years there...my Dad won't be taking her back... principal..
Good drinks , good food. What more do you need!!
Food was excellent. Service was only mediocre at best.
The food was delicious. You know they use exceptional ingredients just by the delicious way the food tastes. The restaurant is clean, and very tastefully decorated. The service was excellent. I give Ship Inn 5 stars! I will definitely be going back. And the Tiramisu was exceptional!
The food was tasteful and well presented. I truly enjoyed the experience. Service was definitely on par. Had a delightful house moscato, I recommend it for its sweetness. You will enjoy your dining experience at this establishment.
Excellent food, great atmosphere and service, reasonable priced
Excellent food and service. Very pleased
Good seafood dishes. Big appetizers. Do get a mud slide wrong and serve a white Russian. Good desserts. Also have non seafood dishes.
Food was good, service very good
We went here for early Easter dinner. We sat in the back room where the atmosphere was festive (lots of larger families). Service was prompt and everyone in our party enjoyed their entrees, which were ample-sized. I chose the salmon which was fabulous! My only complaint would be to have a chicken option, but other than that, we were all pleased and a great place to spend the holiday with family.
I hate to write a bad review but its unavoidable here. I had dinner here with a large group of people from work. First the good. Nice historical building, pleasant staff and the appetizers were great. But the Ship Inn Seafood Salad was blah at best. I had the apple pie for dessert and did not finish it, and I never skipped apple pie. Others in our party enjoyed their food.
This was our first visit to the Ship Inn, we came for Valentines dinner. Our waitress was Sarah, you could tell she was busy with the holiday but still gave us great service we were very happy. We were in a nice section with candles everywhere, very romantic. She recommended some seafood dishes that were delicious. We ended up getting two extra appetizers before our meals as well. It was a perfect night. Good choice for the holiday. We will definitely be back again.
We decided to sit outside on the patio with the pleasant weather and had a great experience. The service was spot on. Sara did a great job. The food was awesome, steak just melted in your mouth & the crabcake was delicious. The pork chops were tender & delicious and the wine was was reasonably priced, not to mention the dessert to top it off. Chocolate martini and chocolate cake, doesn't get much better than this!!!
The ambiance is amazing in this restaurant. A very old house where, we were informed, some of the Forefathers have sat. Service was really good and attentive Crabcakes were great and highly recommended (just not for today in case we go back and they run out. Please read this review AFTER 9/2/19, thank you).Paellia was ok. The shrimp/crab plate was excellent. They also have some kind alcoholic beer if you drive. Overall a great experience
Great food. Great service. Moderately priced.
Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch experience. Very clean, delicious food, appealing layout of food. Super waitress. Highly reccomend.
Very nice place, good service but it's for the rich and the famous I was still hungry. Before the meal no salad no bread
The food was very good. Wait staff was excellent. I will eat there again.
Honestly, absolutely awful. Went for Mothers Day and there was about a 1.5 hour wait for the food. Waitstaff did their best and it wasn't their fault. No apology or anything from management. When the food came out the omelette was like rubber and over cooked. The steak was ok. And the eggs Benedict was luke warm, and the eggs were over cooked. I honestly could have just made better at home. Would not recommend.
Great food. Very friendly staff and mixologist was very good. A little of beaten path but well thought of by the locals which is we found it. Cozy decor. On the whole food and drink you won't forget
Fabulous food-great service-5+ stars!!
I honestly wish there was an option to say zero stars. I picked up Easter dinner for my family. I was shocked at how bad the food was given how expensive it was. My crab cakes were like rubber, I could not eat them. My daughter had the lamb, also terrible. We were looking forward to this all week. We ended up going to McDonald’s for Easter dinner, and the food was 10x better!
Great food and service
The restaurant was pretty empty, the bar was pretty full. The service was good, prompt and helpful. The food was pretty good. Only suggestion would be to give more than one piece of bread per person during dinner.
